Random Friday

Hi blog friends! Happy Friday to you :-)

Today, the little girl I nanny for wanted to make cupcakes. Now I do not consider myself a baker by any means. I can make great brownies and bake the cake (thanks to the directions on the back of the box), but when it comes to icing anything, I'm TERRIBLE. Thank goodness she only wanted to icing 6 of the cupcakes lol. Here's the final product. Please don't be harsh :-( I'm learning! My skills are no where near those of Kelly's. (She can decorate a cake or cookie like nobody I know! I'm jealous of your skills miss!)

Regardless of the way they look, they were delicious! I let her put the sprinkles on them so that's why some have way more then others lol. And we had fun baking them so that's all that matters. I love my job :-)

Speaking of nannies, did you hear about the incredible 22 yr old nanny who saved the 5 yr old boy from the burning house? Talk about being a hero. The little boy was not hurt but the nanny did suffer burns. Read the article here.

Tonight, I'm having a "me" night. A night where I relax, worry about nothing, watch a movie and just enjoy time by myself. I enjoy these nights. During the week I'm at work with two crazy, but wonderful little girls, school, and I feel like I'm missing quiet right now lol. The bf is at school and since I work again tomorrow night, I couldn't go see him this weekend. It's the perfect night for a "me" night. Plus, the weather is crappy right now. Cold (45* and rainy).

(pic found here)
atleast tonight anyway!

Do you enjoy "me" time? If so, what do you during that time? Or how do you relax in general? Any fun plans for the weekend?

Dear John.

3/5                                        4.5/5

So tonight, I was finally able to see Dear John. My friend C & I tried to go 2 weeks ago but it was sold out. I was pretty excited to see it because I have already read the book and loved it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. If you have not seen the movie, and want to see it, stop reading now because I'm about to talk about some of the major differences that I didn't like.

Fair Warning :-)

In the book, John never gets shot. (I like that) He also visits his hometown bars and meets with old friends who he used to get in trouble with. The movie did not show that. I did not like how Allan was Tim's son and that Tim was already married. His wife has left them though. In the book, Tim is Savannah's age. John's father doesn't die a few days after the heart attack. John puts him into the nursing home, goes back to the army, then his father passes away. In the book, Savannah ends up falling for Tim where in the movie, it makes it seem like Savannah marries Tim out of pity because he has cancer. In the book, Tim does not die like he does in the movie. Tim goes into remission from his cancer and lives happily with his brother Allan and Savannah. Instead of having breakfast ready every morning for John like it is in the book, John's father prepares lasagna every Sunday. The ending in the movie was a happy ending compared to the book. John and Savannah run into reach other at a cafe. John is chaining up his bike and Savannah is having a cup of coffee when she looks out the window, sees John and then they end up hugging. The movie ends there. In the book, John decides to leave Savannah alone and let her be happy with her life with Tim and Allen. I could go on and on with the differences. I'll admit that I cried during the movie when John is reading his father a note that he wrote. This did not happen in the book. There were just too many differences for me and I personally think the book is 100% better then the movie. Maybe I shouldn't even be comparing them because one is a book and the other is a movie, but I just couldn't help it. I recommend reading the book & passing on the movie.

If you have seen the movie and read the book, you could possibly disagree with me. But it's just my opinion and we're all entitled to that. Right? :-)

If you have read the book & seen the movie,
which do YOU like better?

P.S - Snuggles was on my lap the whole time while I was typing this, so I told her that I would post her picture and let her say hi to all the other fur balls out there in blogland.
Snuggles:
"hi! Maybe 1 day mom will make me a blog and I can meet lots of new friends. Please tell your furball I said hi & would love to play with them one day!

Now she is going to do this:

Have a great night everyone!

Random Friday Post.

First, for all you Jersey Shore fans out there (I know there's alot; me included! terrible I know) buttttt, I have some great news! Don't be sad that the season is over because . . . drum roll please . . . There will be a season 2 with the SAME cast!! (Vinnie let it slip at after party last week.) A new member will be joining though since Angelina left in the 3rd week. How great is this? Get ready for some more GTL (Gym, Tanning, Laundry) and fist pumping! More trashy TV for us to enjoy :)

Second, on a much different note, my boss is pregnant with another girl! So exciting. She needs help thinking of girls' names so I'm turning to you, my blog friends! First and middle names would be great. Her daughter's name is Madison Grace so those 2 names are out of the question. Leave me comments with unique, but pretty girls names. The more, the better :) Thanks!

Third, if you haven't visited this website or seen this plea, please read it. Brandy is a brilliant writer, a wonderful teacher, and a generous friend. And she is in love with a man who has just been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. People are raising money for the Multiple Myeloma Research Fund in his name. For the price of a cinnamon dolce latte or lunch through the drive-thru, you can be part of an effort to cure a disease that affects approximately 750,000 people worldwide. Every dollar brings us a dollar closer to a cure. And every donation brings a sliver of hope to a girl who needs all the hope she can get.

Please donate. Even if it's $5. Anything means something. I made a donation and it takes less then 2 minutes to do so. Thank you. And if you can't, just PRAY.

Have a GREAT Friday!
