I swear I'm alive.

I have been the worst blogger lately! I'm really sorry! Forgive me? I'm shocked I still have followers and on top of that, new people continue to follow me! Thanks for being such true bloggy friends :-) As I always say, you're all wonderful! Work has been hectic. I figured once the school semester was over I'd have more time to blog, but it's actually the opposite! I work all day, go to the gym and then by the time I get home, it's 8 o'clock and I'm beat. I just caught up on my 107 unread blogs tonight. I apologize if I've been lacking on commenting but I can't even seem to get a post of my own up! I need a vacation, or just a minute to breath. I'm looking forward to the 3 day weekend coming up.

I'm as tired as this cutie pie is.
I need a nap!

Hope you ladies are having a great week so far!
2 work days until the weekend!

Hallelujah!

Weekend Recap.

Hi! This weekend was M's graduation.
Today is my mommy's birthday - Happy Birthday Mom! LOVE YOU!!

Here's a few pics from the weekend.
I took many more but they have M's friends in them
and I'm not sure if they want them on here or not.

My baby did it! Bacherlor's degree in Marketing.

my and my cutie after graduation
I needed to change clothes!
I love when M dresses up :-)

us before the night started getting fuzzy.
celebrating on graduation night is a must!

No pictures of us at the beach on Saturday because the weather
didn't cooperate. It was too cloudy and cool out :-(
I hope you ladies had a wonderful weekend!

Just for fun.

Since it's Thursday and I leave tomorrow for M's graduation,
I thought I'd participate in two fun games that I was tagged in.
On Monday, or maybe Tuesday, I will post all the pictures from graduation
and two nights at the beach. I'll be gone until Monday though.

(who is super sweet by the way so if you don't follow her, you really should!)
tagged me a week ago in the 8x8 game. The rules of this game are:

Go to the 8th photo album, get the 8th picture and then tell the story of it.  After that tag 8 bloggers.  Simple enough right? Here it goes...

This picture was taken New Years Ever 2008. This is also when my hair was back to my natural color. The girl next to me is an old friend of mine, K. I was having a party at my house that night, since it's not safe to drink and drive. The party was pretty fun. I made sure everyone was dressed to impress. I love the dress I'm wearing, even though you can't really tell what it looks like from this picture. The shot glass around my neck is just for giggles, I swear.
I'm pretty sure just about all of you have been tagged in this game, but if you haven't feel free to participate! :-)

For the next game, one of my favorite bloggers, Jenn @ West Sac Honey tagged me in a handwriting game. You really should follow her too if you don't!

The rules:
Write down the following, snap a pic, and post it!
1. Name/Blog Name
2. Left-handed, right-handed, or both
3. Favorite letters to write
4. Least-favorite letters to write
5. Write: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
6. Write in CAPS: CRAB, HUMOR, KALEIDOSCOPE, PAJAMAS, GAZILLION
7. Favorite song lyrics
8. Tag 7 people
9. Any special note or drawing
You can click on the images to make them bigger.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

birthday.

to this boy . . .

Today is my boyfriend's 22 birthday.
(Yes, he's younger than me by 1 yr & 4 months)
And to think I met him when he was only 17.
Goodness - time just flies by.
Pretty soon he's gonna be an old man ;-)

Happy birthday babe! I love you!

Woo Hoo!

Well, I'm finally finished with spring semester! I can finally  b r e a t h e !
I have two of my grades so far - an A and a B (out of 4 classes) so that's
something to smile about :-) I'm so ready for summer to be here!

Speaking of school being over and summer arriving, I FINALLY have time to read the stack of books I've been wanting to! I couldn't read during the semester because I was forced by my professors to read boring nonsense!
(I had to take a folklore and literature class - terrible I tell you!)

Here are some of the books I have lined up to read:

I've already started reading this and I must say it's funny
but I wouldn't expect anything less from Ms. Handler :-)
I already read My Horizontal Life and loved it.
I'm hoping to finish this soon so I can start reading . . .

I'm hoping this book will be the best yet.
After I finish Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang,
I want to start reading . . .

I read the first book of Lauren's and it's a total chick lit book
(obvs. my favorite kind) so I feel I should read this one too since it's
a follow up to the first one. I think I may have to re-read the first book
though since I sort off forget what happened - it's been a while since I read it.

I bought this book a while ago and have yet to read it. I love Nicholas Sparks (sorry for those who don't!) and his books are always quick reads for me.
Since it's been sitting for quite sometime, I'm going to try to read it.

Last but not least, my friend let me borrow these books and insists that I MUST read them because they're so good. You know let know what you think:

If you've read any of books above, let me know what you think!
If you have any recommendations, share with me! :-)

This is heartbreaking. But read with caution.

Disclaimer: I'm not sure if this story has made headlines outside of the local news but this story is just heartbreaking and being the animal lover that I am, it made me sick to my stomach and brought tears to my eyes. If you can help this family in anyway, please do so. If this story is just too much for you to read, I completely understand if you need to exit this post.

The following story is courtesy of the Baltimore Sun.

A dog was fighting to live Wednesday after being attacked by a man wielding a machete Tuesday in North Baltimore.

According to police documents, Levar J. Bailey attacked a pit bull/shepherd mix in his neighbor's gated yard at about 6 p.m.

When police arrested Bailey, 33, they said he was yelling, "The dog was trying to bite my daughter," according to charging documents. Bailey was taken to an area hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He has been known to have a history of mental illness, police said.

Caroline Griffin, chairwoman of Baltimore's Anti-Animal Abuse Task Force, said the dog named Okashia, sustained extensive injuries.

According to police documents, the dog is owned by Shea-Quan Moore-Williams, who was home at the time of the attack. Moore-Williams went outside after hearing the dog yelping, the documents say, to find her bloodied dog and Bailey in the yard with an 18-to-24-inch black machete.

Griffin said Okashia, who is two years old, sustained intense trauma to her face. The machete blows split her nasal passage and shattered her cheekbones and right eye. Her blood loss was huge.

Although the dog was immediately taken by animal control to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS), she was quickly transferred to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Catonsville.

The dog was given painkillers overnight and was to receive a surgeon's opinion Wednesday, Griffin said. "I think her prognosis is uncertain at this point," she said. BARCs officials described the dog's injuries as life-threatening.

Franky Fund is helping to paying for Okashia's emergency vet care. If you can make a donation for her, the family would greatly appreciate it. The extent of Okashia's injuries are in the thousands of dollars and her family has stated they do not have that kind of money.

This picture is frightening but I'm posting it just to show the extent of her injuries.

Animal abuse of ANY KIND is unacceptable. This man needs to be charged and put away for life. If he will do this to animal, imagine what he would do to a person. We are the voice for animals and if this man just walks away, what are we saying for them? I just cannot comprehend how someone can do this to an innocent animal. I'm sorry for the sad, yet serious post but I couldn't just put this to the side. I know my blog is usually a happy, carefree place. If you read this, thank you. If you read this and make a donation, thank you and I'm sure Okashia's family is thanking you as well.

Turquoise.

Maybe it's just me, but these days I am in LOVE with the color turquois.

According to the New York Fashion Magazine,
it just so happens to be the color of 2010
so I guess I'm not the only one loving it :-)

You can read the article here --> New York Fashion

A mix of blue and green, turquoise has a sweet feminine feel
while the darker teal shades add lively sophistication.

This would be fun to wear to a cocktail party!

Such a unique and fun ring!

Not that I'm a Megan Fox fan, but she wore a necklace exactly like this to an award show and it looked so good. It's simple yet beautiful.

now on to some fun things that are turquoise...

Reminds me of a cute country kitchen

 What girl doesn't love Tiffany's?!

This room is just too cute not to share.

Who wants to vacation to this beautiful place?

 What's your favorite color?
Are YOU a fan of turquoise?

mother's day

To all of you wonderful mother's out there, take this day for yourself and just know how much you are appreciated. No one said being a mother would be easy, but it will be worth it.

Dear Mom,
I know I've told you this a million times or more before, but I can't thank you enough for all that you do. You are the glue that holds this family together. When I was little, I thought it was so cool to have the mom the worked at home. You let me and D have friends over during the summer to go swimming and would order pizza for our friends next door. Our house was the place to be.  I remember all of the birthday parties you held for me. I felt like such a princess on those days. I couldn't have asked for a better childhood. I had everything I ever wanted and all the love I could possibly need. I know we went through a rough time when I was a bratty 13 year old who thought she knew everything and I know I deserved that slap on my mouth because I was relentless, but you stuck through that bad time with me and continued to be a supportive mom even when I was wrong. You were always and still are the PERFECT combination of mother and friend. You support me, guide me and you're a shoulder to cry on. You help me through tough times and give advice when I ask for it. Our days we spend together are so much fun. I'm so glad to have a mom who understands what 23 yr old's go through and you enjoy doing the things I do such as shopping, going out to eat, getting a glass of wine together, and working out. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if I can be HALF the mother that you are, I'll be good. You would give me and D the shirt off your back or your last penny. You're beautiful, compassionate, caring, selfless, patient, kind, strong, confident, and independent. I cannot thank you enough for being my mom. I wish everyone had a mother like you do. I'll always be your little girl.
Love always,
Brittany

I realise what life is all about.
It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough;
It's givin' more when you feel like givin' up.
I've seen the light: it's in my daughter's eyes.
- Martina McBride

I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
For staying back and watching me shine
And I didn't know if you knew, so I'm takin' this chance to say
That I had the best day with you today

Chance made you my mother; love made you my friend. ~Unknown

Getting to know you Sunday - on Saturday

Since tomorrow is Mother's Day - Keely decided to host GTKY today instead.

The Questions:

1. What has been your most memorable Mother's Day? (with your mom, as a mom, or with your wife)
To be honest, every mother's day is so special to me. I try to remind my mom how much I love her everyday but I especially make sure I do so on this holiday.

2. Have you ever been pulled over for speeding and were you able to talk your way out of it?
Oh boy - have I? I've been pulled over I believe 9 times or so. Every time I get pulled over, I usually turn on the tears as quick as possible and 8 out of 9 times, it's worked. Guess they think I'm cute or something haha kidding. I think I have a lead foot or something. Or maybe I'm meant to be a race car driver; who knows.
I do have a funny story to tell though.. This one time, I was coming home from M's house and it was like 12:30 AM and I was wearing bummy shorts, a t-shirt and my hair was pulled up all messy. The road I was on goes from 55 to 40 in less then a 1/4 a mile because a toll booth is ahead. I slowed down to about 45 and then stopped to pay the toll. As I'm pulling away, I see flashing lights and I'm thinking "oh shit, I really don't know why I'm getting pulled over, this is ridiculous" and I get this crazy sick feeling in my stomach. So the cop comes up to my car and before asking for license and registration.. are you ready for this ladies?! .. he says.. and I quote "Do you have any automatic weapons or atomic bombs in your car?" Um excuse me?! Do I have what?! What the hell do I look like?! I'm an innocent girl driving home; not someone about to blow up the city? Needless to say, I got a ticket for supposedly speeding but the cop didn't show up to court and I got off :-) What a nutso he was. I was shocked when he asked that. I honestly thought he was joking at first but he was beyond serious.

3. What's the oldest thing you have hanging in your closet?
I'm not a hoarder or pack rat by any means. I clean out my closet at least every 6 months. But I believe the oldest thing I have in there are these wedding bears.. It's two white teddy bears, one dressed in a wedding dress aka the bride and another dressed in a black tux aka the groom. My grandmother who passed away when I was 6 gave them to be when I was little and I've had them ever since. They're very special to me.

4. Do you whiten your teeth?
I have before.. I'm currently not using white strips but I do use Crest Pro Health Whitening toothpaste and I think it works great. I'm huge on having nice, white teeth so I try my best to keep mine this way.

5. Underwear or Panties..What do you call your "unmentionables"?
I call them undies lol

6. If you could go on vacation right now..today..where would you go?
anywhere that has a beautiful beach!! The Caribbean? Turks and Cacos? Destin Beach?

7. Do you get offended when people cuss on their blogs?
No, not at all. It's who they are. If I don't like when they have to say, I have the luxury of clicking the red X at the top right.

8. If you had to give up one luxury item, it would be....?
I would give up TV. When we moved into the house we live in now, it took like a week for the cable man to come out and install it and I thought I would go crazy not being able to watch my shows but I was fine :-)

Bathtime Adventures

Just look at that under-bite or should I say smile?
Even when she's a yucky wet nugget, she's still cute in my eyes :-)

Maybe she thinks that if she does this long enough,
she can avoid being blow dried. This went on for a
few more minutes until I was finally able to grab that
little wiggle worm.

I find her hilarious when she does this, but maybe because she's my pup.

Sorry if I bored you with this post lol :-)
