Getting to know you Sunday.

I am joining in on the fun that MannLand5 brings us every Sunday. I've seen plenty of ladies do this so I decided to have some fun with them! I've never done this before but I think it's a fun way to get to know me and you! Plus, the questions are always interesting :-) Head over there and participate! Have an awesome Sunday!

. . The Questions . .

1. Would you rather bungee jump or sky dive?
I would do both. I'd probably like to sky dive more. I'm not afraid of heights or anything like that. I love roller coasters and flying on planes so I can only imagine how much fun both of these would be :-)

2. When using a public restroom to you squat over the seat or sit?
Well if there are seat covers, I always use those, usually two at a time lol. If not, I squat because I have no idea who was sitting on that seat before me.

3. Favorite flower?
I think hibiscus flowers are so pretty and so are tulips.

4. Pedicure or manicure?
Pedicure for sure. I love how they massage your legs and feet and then use the hot towels after. It's so relaxing. I wish I could get one every week.

5. How many siblings do you have?
I have 1 biological brother (20). A step-brother (20). Step-sister (15). Half-brother (7).

6. Do you pee in the shower? (gasp!)
I believe I have before but not usually lol. TMI question!!

7. Bikini, tankini, or one piece?
I always weart a bikini. I don't like my legs the most and these swimsuits wouldn't cover my legs anyways lol. BUT this summer, I'll be in better shape (crossing my fingers) so then I'll be happy in a bikini :-)

8. Where do you hate to shop at, but go there anyway?
Wal-mart. Lord, don't even get me started. I go there because of the prices but usually head to Target. The parking lots are terrible & the people there are just from a different planet. Drives me INSANE.

Can't wait to see spring flowers.
(weheartit.com)

Happy Saturday Ladies!
I hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Today, I decided to go through my drawers and get rid of clothes I don't wear anymore/don't want. I'm going to take them to Plato's Closet (a shop here that gives you money for your gently worn clothes) and whatever they don't take, I'm going to donate. I'm pretty good at getting rid of things I don't need, use, or wear any longer. Unlike my mom who likes to keep things "just in case". If it wasn't for me, she might have things from 5 years ago that haven't been touched. If you aren't using it, give it to someone who needs it. Where do you ladies donate your un-wanted clothes to? I don't know of many places around here so I need some ideas.

Then Snuggles and I decided to take a trip to PetSmart. She needed some treats, bones, and a new baby (that's what we call her toys lol). Plus, I haven't taken her out in a while due to the weather. She was beyond excited, crying the whole way there. She loves seeing the other dogs there and sniffing around lol. I decided to make her look nice before we went though . . .

Like her little pink bow and flower bandana? lol
She's getting ready for spring time.
And why does she look like a long hair chihuahua today?
Maybe I need to get her a hair cut. She's cute though.
Do your fur-babies like going to PetSmart?

Have a great Saturday & Sunday!

Dear John.

3/5                                        4.5/5

So tonight, I was finally able to see Dear John. My friend C & I tried to go 2 weeks ago but it was sold out. I was pretty excited to see it because I have already read the book and loved it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. If you have not seen the movie, and want to see it, stop reading now because I'm about to talk about some of the major differences that I didn't like.

Fair Warning :-)

In the book, John never gets shot. (I like that) He also visits his hometown bars and meets with old friends who he used to get in trouble with. The movie did not show that. I did not like how Allan was Tim's son and that Tim was already married. His wife has left them though. In the book, Tim is Savannah's age. John's father doesn't die a few days after the heart attack. John puts him into the nursing home, goes back to the army, then his father passes away. In the book, Savannah ends up falling for Tim where in the movie, it makes it seem like Savannah marries Tim out of pity because he has cancer. In the book, Tim does not die like he does in the movie. Tim goes into remission from his cancer and lives happily with his brother Allan and Savannah. Instead of having breakfast ready every morning for John like it is in the book, John's father prepares lasagna every Sunday. The ending in the movie was a happy ending compared to the book. John and Savannah run into reach other at a cafe. John is chaining up his bike and Savannah is having a cup of coffee when she looks out the window, sees John and then they end up hugging. The movie ends there. In the book, John decides to leave Savannah alone and let her be happy with her life with Tim and Allen. I could go on and on with the differences. I'll admit that I cried during the movie when John is reading his father a note that he wrote. This did not happen in the book. There were just too many differences for me and I personally think the book is 100% better then the movie. Maybe I shouldn't even be comparing them because one is a book and the other is a movie, but I just couldn't help it. I recommend reading the book & passing on the movie.

If you have seen the movie and read the book, you could possibly disagree with me. But it's just my opinion and we're all entitled to that. Right? :-)

If you have read the book & seen the movie,
which do YOU like better?

P.S - Snuggles was on my lap the whole time while I was typing this, so I told her that I would post her picture and let her say hi to all the other fur balls out there in blogland.
Snuggles:
"hi! Maybe 1 day mom will make me a blog and I can meet lots of new friends. Please tell your furball I said hi & would love to play with them one day!

Now she is going to do this:

Have a great night everyone!

Thankful Thursday and a photo tag.

This week I am thankful for:

- God looking out for me when my less then 2 yr old car decided to lose it's power steering. I was pulling in a parking spot when it went out. Thankfully I was not driving on the highway or making a U-turn onto a busy road. It's working fine now but I'm worried it may happen again.

- My dad looking into the situation and helping me as much as possible.
My mom for offering to help me get it fixed.

- My job. A girl in my class and I were talking today about work and she was complaining about her job. I am so happy with my job that I really can't find anything to complain about it. I'm blessed to have it.

- I'm thankful for caring friends, including bloggy friends when I need advice.
(
Allison & Liz, you girls are so awesome! xo)

Onto the photo tag...
I was tagged twice to participate in this fun little game.
Once by one the sweetest girls named Kelly
and then again by a hilarious girl who
just so happens to have the best name ever, Brittany.

Here are the rules:
1. Open your 1st Photo folder.
2. Scroll to the 10th photo.
3. Post the photo and the story behind it.
4. Tag 5 or more people.

Ok, to be honest, I didn't want this to be the 10th photo because not everyone wants to see mushy-ness lol. But I'm following the rules and just going with it. This was taken in January 2008 at M's apartment where he attends school. He was having a party that night so my friend K and I went there for the weekend. I left my friend K in charge of my camera. I did not even know she was taking this picture. I saw this on there the next day and I do think it's pretty cute lol. Notice the natural color hair?! Ahh, so dark.

Now, I tag these lovely ladies:

Stacy @ Stacy Says

Everyone who reads my blog should participate though!

Have a great Thursday night!

Major Case of the Februaries.

(photo: weheartit.com)
I feel like the "blah-ness" is following me everywhere.

Ladies, sorry I've been a bad blogger lately. At least that's how I feel anyways. I have been commenting and such, but my posts have been lacking good content and I feel as though I'm boring you to tears. I apologize. I hope you still stick around because I promise more interesting posts will come!

Blame it on February. For some reason, this short month always drags me down. I can't figure it out but maybe it's because school is in full swing and I have nothing to look forward to. January is great because it's a fresh start and a brand new year. I have great intentions of sticking to my New Year's goals and starting off the year just right.

Then February comes. This is usually the time the weather is all messed up & cold, and boy was it ever messed up this month. Two blizzards in 5 days. Before the snow came, I was doing good; working out, sticking to eating healthy, enjoying dealing with the cold weather. Then BAM, the snow came and everything went out the door. When your literally trapped in side and you run out of homework activities to do, you tend to eat your weight in yummy food. Or at least I do. I couldn't get to the gym because I don't have 4 wheel drive and I guess the snow plows do not find my street as top priority.

Now that the roads are clear and everything is back to normal, I cannot get out of this funk. I just feel so blah about everything. I go to work and school and then I just get lazy and don't work out or really want to do anything at all lol. I'm hoping that when March comes and the weather gets out of the 40 degree range, I will be back to my peppy self :-) I need to start working out again. I feel so much better about myself and just in daily life so it's something I want to do. The weather isn't warm in March but it's nice enough to take my dog to the park and get outside.

So February, please hurry and get yourself out of here. I know you'll be gone pretty soon but I can't take much more of you. I want Spring, I want to have a little pep in my step again, I want to hear the birds sing and see the sun shine.

Do any of you have a major case of the Februaries?
If so, how do you deal with them?
Anddd . . ARE YOU READY FOR SPRING?!

The sun is shining.

It was a beautiful Sunny day in Maryland.
I love when the sun is shining.
I feel like I haven't seen it in so long because of all the snow
and cold, dreary weather. I know spring is on its way though!

Today was a nice relaxing day.
Didn't do much but go to a yummy lunch,
get my oil changed & get my car washed.
Tonight I'll be babysitting with a friend aka
having girl time since the kiddos go to bed very early.
Girl time is always the best.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Have you done anything fun so far?
Or any big plans for Sunday?
I hope the sun is shining where you are!

Attention Bloggers - Especially New Followers.

This is very important ladies!
I have been meaning to tell you something.
It's about replying to comments you leave me.
It has been bothering me for a while.
It makes me really sad when I cannot reply to your
wonderful words that you leave for me.
So the lovely Katie has written a wonderful PSA.
Please take the time to read it and follow the directions!
Thanks! Can't wait to reply to you :-)

P.S - Thanks for the well wishes and advice the other day regarding my migraines!
It meant a lot to me ♥ You're all too sweet!

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Oh, my head.

Hi Ladies. Hope you're having a good week so far!

I don't think I've ever mentioned it, but I swear I suffer from migraines.
I've been seen by my doctor quite a few times and received prescriptions but nothing seems to take the pain away. I usually take excedrin for regular headaches but that doesn't help with migraines.

Symptoms of migraines:

  • Moderate to severe pain. May be confined to one or both sides of head

  • Head pain with a pulsating or throbbing quality

  • Pain that worsens with physical activity

  • Pain that interferes with your regular activities

  • Nausea with or without vomiting

  • Sensitivity to light and sound
(That's how I feel - and No, I don't know this lady lol)

I have 5 out of 6 of these symptoms when my migraine comes.
Especially the nausea. It's terrible.

So since meds don't help me, I'm turning to you ladies.
Do any of you have this problem?
If so, what do you do to help the problem?
Any home remedies?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you ♥

V*Day

L O V E
We think about it, sing about it, dream about it, lose sleep worrying about it. When we don't have it, we search for it; when we discover it, we don't know what to do with it. When we have it, we fear losing it. It is the constant source of pleasure and pain. But we can't predict which it will be from one moment to the next. It is a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define, impossible to live without.

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies!
I hope you get to spend this special day with the one you love;
boyfriend, fiance, husband, child, parent, friend, pet.
Have an amazing day!

Iyou all!

3-Day For The Cure.

What is 3-Day for the cure? I know almost all of you know who Susan G. Komen is and what the walk for breast cancer is. If someone you haven't heard of it, it is a 3 day walk of 60 miles to end breast cancer. It has been advertised on TV and on the internet. You can request a packet of information for free and that's what I did. Let me tell you a little bit about what the 3 day consists of:

Over the course of 3 days, you will walk 60 miles. About 20 miles a day. This may seem like many, many miles, but it's easy to do. You don't have to be an athlete or anything like that. Once you join, you will receive training support.
This is what you'll receive after you register:

  • A handbook

  • Our Virtual Personal Trainer (weekly training reminders via e-mail

  • Volunteer-led training walks all over the country

  • A suggested training program

  • Tips on our Web site about training, health, nutrition, shoe selection and more

  • Discounts from local businesses

  • Training clinics led in every 3-Day for the Cure market

  • Many more tools on the Web site (http://www.the3day.org/)
So you might wonder where you will be eating, sleeping, etc during the 3 day walk. On the walk, you'll get food and beverages to keep you going, as well as rest areas, safety guidelines and medical support. At camp, you will receive hot meals, showers - even entertainment. You will sleep cozy in cute little two-person tents. You will be taken care of :-)

Here's the only difficult part. Not to hard but not a walk in the park. Registration is $90. Before you begin the race, you need to raise a minimum of $2,300. You do receive these helpful tips to fundraise though:
  • A handbook
  • A personal fundraising Web Page
  • A fundraising ideas library
  • Fundraising e-mail and tracking tools
  • Downloadable tools, including posters and business cards
  • Our Facebook fundraising application
  • Fundraising clinics led in every 3-Day for the Cure market
I have always wanted to walk for a cure. Thankfully, no one in my family has suffered from breast cancer, but my grandmother has had a scare or 2 in her life. This is such a power and moving walk that I feel the need to do it.

I haven't joined yet. It might sound childish, but I do not want to do this walk by myself lol. Here's where you ladies come in. Ladies living in the Maryland, DC, Pennsylvania area, would you want to walk with me?
Two walks are taking place in these areas:
  1. Washington, DC - October 8-10
  2. Philadelphia - October 15-17
We may not have met each other in "real life" but that's ok. We would be doing this together and for a great cause. October will be here before we know it. If you would like to do this with me, leave me a comment and then we can e-mail each other and talk about it more.

I hope to hear from some of you!!

P.S - This walk is also coming to the following cities:
Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Michigan, the Twin Cities, Dever, Seattle, San Fransico Bay Area, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Dallas/Fort Worth, Arizona, San Diego

I like to dream.

I'm tired of hearing about the snow.
I'm tired of seeing snow.
I'm tired of talking about snow.
I'm tired of people acting like snow is the end of the world.
I'm tired of snow. Period.
I'm banning snow from my blog (for the time being
since we're getting another foot tonight so
I'm sure it may appear on my blog again)

Now, let's talk about better things :)
Like where I wish I was.

Turks & Caicos

on this beach.

lounging in one of these chairs.

wearing these 3 things

with one of these yummy drinks in my hand

reading this book.

and of course Singing this song...

"Want a towel on a chair in the sand by the sea
want to look thru my shades and see you there with me...
...The sun and the sand and a drink in my hand with no bottom
and no shoes, no shirt, no problems"

Summer get here, NOW!

If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be?!
I would love to know I'm not the only one with the winter blues.

The Blizzard Aftermath.

Today was dig out day. We started digging out the cars at 9:30 & finished at 12:30. We still have to do the sidewalk and deck. Thank goodness for snow plows. Otherwise, we would be shoveling for days. Here are some pics.

Molly the Mazda 3 all snowed in!

Where do I even begin?

The snow is like 4 feet high!

The front yard

I had to go get gas and look at the road!
You can't see the black top. I had to drive
10 mph. It was kind of scarey lol.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
Saints, I hope you win the superbowl!

The Blizzard of 2010.

That's right people, a BLIZZARD.

This is a record breaking snow storm for Maryland.
When this storm is over, this will be the #1 snowiest season in history

My power went out at 3 AM this morning and finally came back on around 1:30 this afternoon after making numerous phone calls. The temperature in my house dropped from 69 degrees to 57. It was freezing! My poor dog had to lay under the covers with me.

With the wind drift, we have about 26 inches of snow here right now. No one is going anywhere. We did shovel out our drive way so we could get to the Royal Farms store to get some food because we couldn't make any without having power. It's still snowing and won't end until 6 tonight. So we could end up with about 30 inches total.

Maryland is under a state of emergency. They had to bring in army vehicles to help transport people to hospitals and things like that. This is serious snow.

Here are some pics.
I'll take more tomorrow while I'm trying to dig out my car.

Snow on my deck

More snow on my deck

Look at the mail box! The snow is almost covering it.

Out my back window.
The smaller trees have disappeared under the snow.
The big trees are all wilted over.

The news is saying schools may be closed all week long and some businesses may not even open. Some people are still without power. Maryland is a mess right now. I can only pray spring is on it's way. But another storm is moving in on Tuesday bringing 6 more inches possibly.

I hope everyone is having a better Saturday then I am!
Stay warm Marylanders and others affected by this snow!
