Couch to 5K.

Happy Monday! Today is the first day of March which means I am starting something new. Spring is in the air, well if you call 45 degrees and sunny spring (19 days til it's offically here) so it's time to get my butt ready for some shorts and swim suits ;-) The gym and I are going to become BFF's. I mean May will be here before I know it, which means summer time to me and I do not want to be in the same spot I was last year. (Uncomfortable wearing a bikini and trying to cover myself up.) This summer I'd like to be the proud owner of a new and improved body.

So today, I started the couch to 5K. I am by no means a runner or even close to being one. I can jog for about 3 minutes but then my breathing gets all messed up and I feel like I'm dying. I am the queen of cardio for sure though. I can walk on an incline as high as it will go for at least an hour and the ellipitcal is no problem. But I want to learn how to run so I figured this program would be great for me. Do/have any of you ladies completed this program and become runners? Any advice on this program would also be great.

I like it because it starts you out very slow. You do a 5 minute brisk warm up, then go into jogging for 60 seconds then walk for 90 seconds for 20-30 minutes. The times of walking and jogging increase as the weeks progress. It allows me to work on my breathing and not over due myself. I think I'll be able to stick to this and be proud of myself for completing it. I felt great after I finished the first 30 minutes today. I also did other cardio when I finished.

So I will be updating weekly/bi-weekly on how things are going and hopefully I'll be one step closer to running!

Hope you had a fabulous day, because, you all are fabulous ladies! I don't say it enough, but thanks for all of your wonderful comments and being a faithful blog friend :-) Hugs to you!!

I just started this program two weeks ago. It starts off very slowly, so you can really ease into it. Good luck!

I have read about alot of people doing this program. It seems like a really smart way to make a life style change. Nothing to crazy. Good luck with it and you are going to look smoking in that bikini!

I've always been curious about this program, so I look forward to hearing your reviews of it. Like you, I rock at cardio, but am absolutely not a runner! I'd love to be able to run a 5K at some point, though. Best of luck; I'm sure you'll rock this!

Congrats on starting the program and I've looked into doing this myself. It seems like a great way to ease into running. I tried it one time at the gym and it seemed good. I definitely want to get into better shape using the elliptical and walking on an incline on the treadmill before I start running. My goal is to eventually become one of those people that enjoys running. Overall, I have enjoyed just getting back into going to the gym and getting healthier for summer/overall.

Good luck with it and keep us posted on how it goes!

Good for you! Good luck; I can't wait to read about your process. I am going to do this eventually as well. When it gets warm enough for me to run outside, as I hate the gym.

I keep saying I'm going to try it but because of the crazy weather a few weeks ago I didn't make it to the gym and haven't made it back. Maybe you'll motivate me!

Congrats on starting the C25K program! It's really great! The hardest part of running is putting your shoes on and getting out the door. I'd definitely suggest posting weekly or bi-weekly progress updates on your blog. It'll really help motivate you and keep you accountable. Best of luck! Feel free to ask me any questions on running if you have them. But watch out, running is addictive! (in a good way, of cours). And you'll be running your first half marathon before you know it!

I really need to do this myself. I actually MEANT to start running yesterday too, but it just didn't happen. And I only have two weeks to get in shape for my holiday!

What! why is this the first I am hearing of this? You KNOW that my lazy ass needs to be doing the same thing. I must get this and do it with you.

I need to do this so badly! I don't think I'd even be happy in a parka this summer! I am with you, no running. I have asthma so I run out of breath quickly, and even quicker when I am out of shape. This sounds like a great way to work may way into shape =)

Good luck!
